Where We Started
It Began With Real Estate Nobody Else Knew How to Sell
Redfield Group Auctions was founded in 2001 by Mike and Cindy Fisher. In the beginning the firm did one thing: higher-end real estate, anywhere in North America. Estates, ranches, resort property, development land and landmark homes, the kind of property with no comparable sale down the street and no obvious buyer in the county.
That work took the firm into more than 40 states, Mexico and the Bahamas. In 2011 Redfield added business, industrial and collectible assets, and has conducted more than 300 of those auctions since, selling to buyers in more than 10 countries. Today the same family sells the building, the machinery inside it and the trucks parked behind it.
We have never left our roots. Redfield still works with owners, agents and other auctioneers around the country to bring exceptional real estate to market.
Where the Name Comes From
Mike’s father is from Redfield, South Dakota. The family still goes back there to hunt pheasant.
1986 to Today

A company built from a small tract in Glencoe
Mike Fisher founds Fisher Industrial Service in Glencoe, Alabama. It grows to more than 130 employees and lands on the Inc. 500 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies three times. He sells it in the 1990s. Long before he sold anyone else’s business, he built and sold his own.
From Montana back to Alabama
After the sale, Mike goes to work for an auction company in Montana and learns the business from the inside. Then he comes home to Etowah County to start his own.
Redfield Group Auctions opens on September 11
Mike and Cindy Fisher open the doors on September 11, 2001. It was the hardest morning in a generation to start anything. They opened anyway. The early work is higher-end real estate across North America: estates, ranches, resort and development property, and landmark homes.

Redfield and Colliers International auction beachfront development sites, commercial tracts from 0.8± to 102± acres and commercial buildings in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, in a live auction at the Marriott Phoenix Airport.
National marketing awards
The firm earns awards in the National Auctioneers Association Marketing Competition, sponsored that year by USA TODAY, against more than 1,000 entries.
Business, industrial and collectible assets
Redfield adds business, industrial and collectible assets to its services. More than 300 of those auctions have followed, with buyers in more than 10 countries. The real estate practice never stopped.
The next generation comes aboard
Justin Fisher joins the firm full time and takes on equipment, industrial and personal property. The same year Redfield auctions a 390+ acre estate and retreat in Fort Valley, Virginia: nine homes, a 350-seat church, a stone chapel, a school and farm buildings.
A resort on the Sea of Cortez
Redfield sells resort condominiums, cottages and townhomes at CostaBaja Resort & Spa in La Paz, Mexico, live on site and online. Two La Paz auctions, three years apart, bring $3,000,000 in sales each time from buyers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
NAA Volunteer of the Year
The National Auction Association names Mike its Volunteer of the Year, after years on its Board, its Executive Committee and as chairman of its Education Institute and CAI Committee.
Justin leads the state association
Justin Fisher serves as President of the Alabama Auctioneers Association for 2021–2022, the same office his father held before him.
The profession elects Mike, and Redfield comes home
In July, in San Antonio, Mike Fisher is installed as the 78th President of the National Auction Association, only the second auction professional from Alabama to hold the office. The same year, Redfield begins building its new corporate and auction facility at 605 West Main Street in Glencoe, forty years after Mike started his first company there.

From Landmark Homes to Whole Plants
Vidalia Mills, Vidalia, Louisiana
The former Fruit of the Loom denim plant: 870,000± square feet under roof, 36+ dock doors, its own water treatment plant and a full line of European textile machinery. Redfield cataloged 931 lots, reached buyers in more than 12 countries, and the plant equipment and inventory sold out in full by sealed bid.

Badcock Home Furniture, LaGrange, Georgia
Redfield cleared the distribution center in two online auctions. New furniture inventory went first. Then the building itself: 1.8 miles of pallet racking, 9,868 load beams, 9,748 wire decks, electric forklifts and order pickers, loaded out through the dock doors on a fixed schedule.

The auction profession chose the founder of this firm to lead it. Mike was installed in San Antonio in July 2026, only the second auction professional from Alabama to serve as NAA President.
He also serves as Chairman of the Alabama State Board of Auctioneers, and is a Hall of Fame member and Past President of the Alabama Auctioneers Association.
